Surroundings

Bourron-Marlotte is a quaint French village about 8 minutes drive from INSEAD, on the edge of the forest. It houses two INSEAD houses located in the "Puits Carré" (pronounced "puyee car-eh") domain.

Most shops and services are within 300 meters from the property, removing the need –all too frequent outside Fontainebleau– to take a car for day-to-day shopping. These include:

  • a bakery
  • a supermarket called "Huit à huit" (open 7 days a week)
  • a butcher
  • a hairdresser
  • the post office
  • a drugstore/pharmacy
  • a newsstand
  • a garage, and
  • the very popular restaurant "Le Bistro du Broc"

The train station in Montigny sur Loing (2mn drive or 20mn walk) has direct hourly service to Fontainebleau and Paris.

The forest is less than 1 km from the house, allowing for scenic bike rides or restful walks. The sports complex, in the center of the town, is less than 10mn walk or 2mn biking, and has tennis courts as well as a large gymnasium offering numerous individual or team sports opportunities. Near the sports complex are the kindergarten and primary school.
